Terrain:
The Hesperian world is divided in a number of regions. Each region consists of a number of areas, which most of the time are within the same relative range. The regions are connected by so-called long roads. These are roads which require a large amount of endurance to cross and form a serious hindrace when trying to get from one region to another. Luckily, we added a network of coaches which covers all regions, as well as riding animals and ships, all of which are alternative ways of crossing distances, besides magickal means of course. This system was created to convey the idea of a vast world in which the areas are no doubt the most interesting places, but only make up a small part of the total world. The areas and regions are the places put under a magnifying-glass and the vastness of the world is simulated with the long roads.

There's a multitude of terrain on Hesperia, each with its own specific characteristics. Most notably are the swamps, peaks and deserts found in the world. Swamps are treacherous places, where unskilled players can easily get stuck or even drown. Peaks are inaccessible to all but the most skilled mountaineers. Deserts are terrible places, where the danger of dehydration and losing one's way is very real.

Coaches:
A network of coaches covers the entire Hesperian world, with coaching-inns in all major, civilized places. Coaches are the perfect way to cross long distances between regions. All you have to do is to go to the nearest inn, buy a ticket from a ticket-seller, give it to the local ticket-collector and lean back in the coach till you arrive at your destination.

Riding Animals:
Players may own a riding animal on Hesperia. Travelling on the back of a riding animal consumes less endurance and they are especially efficient at travelling on long roads. In addition to this, riding animals fight alongside their master if grouped and offer you the advantage of higher ground in combat, thus increasing your fighting capacities.

Ships:
Players may own a ship on Hesperia, which is obligatory for those who wish to undertake sea voyages. This type of voyages can transport you to places which normally would be inaccessible to players. The system of ships was implemented alongside a separate Sailor class, which is specifically suited to handle ships optimally. The Sailor class is a well-considered addition to Hesperia and members of this class are also useful if not on a ship. We furthermore implemented vast, treacherous seas (over 15000 rooms in total!) and an intelligent weather system. Storms, unfavourable winds, dangerous or shallow waters, all may cause damage to your ship. If players die on the Hesperian seas, their corpses wash ashore on the nearest beach, so as to allow players to retrieve their gear. It is this integrated, user-friendly system we present to you as a challenge.
